We've gotten credit reports pulled by the lenders twice since that date

and in both cases, no problem with getting funding for a house refi and a new car, so I'm not too worried about the identity theft aspect of it. Our credit card has been compromised numerous times, and 10/2019 might have been the most recent one, so it's possible that whoever used a hacked credit card.

The last thing I did on the phone with the agent last night was a recorded sworn statement that I had never rented that make model, hadn't rented ANY car in at least 4 years and hadn't been in the state in question for 15 year or so, so certainly NOT as recent as 2019. Should be done, I would think.

Though yes, it's possible that it's a rental car company that got scammed and my name came up as "Maybe we can pin it to this guy".
