The Alliance should propose immediate changes to the CFP committee's job


The committee should do nothing until the season is over.

Then at that point, they simply rank the conference champions (including the top independent).

Then the playoffs until 2026 would include just the top four teams from that list.

Make it clear that they will vote for nothing else at renewal, except to expand the number of teams, but keeping the general principal in place.

By floating the proposal now and announcing that they won't budge, they end discussion on what the future will be, even if it fails to pass in the short term.

If they stick to that, the Alliance holds all of the leverage. Every team except for the SEC would see that as an improvement to our current model, including Notre Dame.

After 2026, the Alliance can just leave the SEC out of it, if they refuse to join in.

I believe they could make that happen without getting blocked by antitrust issues, especially if they partnered with the NCAA to make it an official NCAA playoff (and share the money with the NCAA, etc.).
