OR gear sells in a similar price range as Patagonia.


The only gear that used to be a steal was Columbia, before they jacked their prices up to the other brands they were competing with. Before that move, any Columbia item you paid full price on was just as good of a bargain as their direct competitors' items on sale.

I have a couple pair of very thin Columbia hiking pants that I've been wearing for ~20 years...and they are still in pretty good condition. They have been through a lot, including thorn patches without ripping. I would buy several more pair if they offered them. Most of the current hiking pants are made from a slightly thicker material. I like the lighter stuff for hiking around here in the summer (for mosquito protection).
