A 4th Division may be feasible for some of the sports that are currently

sponsored at the DI level. However, I am not sure it is feasible for all the sports that are currently sponsored at the DI level. I say that because the power conferences currently don't have enough participating teams to conduct a functioning season where they are playing against just themselves.

So what happens to those sports could become tricky. The other 3 divisions may not want some of their schools to compete in that top division for those sports because it could give the schools an unfair competitive advantage. It is the same logic that the DI used to eliminate DI schools from competing at the DII or DIII level in a sport. DI schools competing at the DIII level in football was the driving factor that influenced the schools from passing a new bylaw to prevent it from happening in the future it. I call it the "Davidson Rule" because Davidson was one of the DI schools that did it (competed in the ODAC for football) as a way to try to reduce cost.
