Having 1 auto-bid for the G5 in an 8-team tourney is better than what the

G5 has now.

5 P5 champs + 1 G5 champ + 2 at large would be great. Especially if the Rose Bowl can match up the B1G and PAC-12 champs.

This scenario would help the newly weakened BigXII, the G5, the B1G/Pac-12, and to some extent the ACC.

It only hurts ND and the SEC, but only marginally IMO.

If the quarterfinals are played on NYE & NYD, that would be awesome. Can you imagine if the Orange Bowl was played NYE, the Sugar Bowl played at 12:30 on on NYD, Rose Bowl at 4pm and the Fiesta Bowl or Cotton Bowl at 7:30? Massive ratings. Massive fun.

If the powers that be don't want to "drag out the season", I would go in the complete opposite. Play on campus for the quarters and semis (or just the semis if they stay at 4) before Christmas, and just make the Rose Bowl the national title game on NYD.

I don't know about everyone else, but I find the current format a bore. Especially the part where the title game is being played late on a weeknight. Nothing epic about it.

Pre BCS, while NYD didn't always match up 1 and 2, you at least knew it was going to be settled that day even if the national title picture involved several games. It actually added a lot of intrigue to the day. And on those occasions when we did get 1 vs. 2 matchup, the games had a true big game feel. The Fiesta Bowl between Penn State and Miami really sticks out. But there are so many more.

Now, NYD kinda sucks. Outback Bowl? Yawn.
