I didn't notice any time deadlines in the article - this can drag out


The one looming deadline is January 2026 - the last CFP on the current contract.
A new contract needs to be in place optimally 18 months beforehand, though it probably won't get finalized until late 2024/early 2025. Need to know the 2027 playoff site(s) in advance of the 2026 season to get hotels/press facilities/location logistics/marketing etc. set - stadiums are the easy part.

I know Phillips wants to do NCAA reorg first - in that case it needs to be done by mid 2024 to give time to finish the CFP contract.
Given that, I expect a lot of stalemated negotiations for the next 12 months, followed by 6-12 months of serious negotiations to have the reorg in place in time to implement a new CFP contract.
