If the P5s just want it to be either football-only or football and


basketball only, then what incentive does the remaining NCAA members have to agree to this deal? If you look at the entire current membership in the NCAA, which is over 1,000 (maybe even 1,100) schools, then 65-69 schools only make up a small percentage of the membership.

The rest of the members can survive without the P5s because DII and DIII have been doing it for years (even decades). Whereas the P5s need the other members for all the non-revenue sports that are currently not sponsored by all the P5 conferences. The P5 schools have invested time and money into those sports, so they aren't going to simply walk away from them. Will the other P5 conferences agree to add a whole bunch of sports at one time so there are enough participating teams in these sports? If not, then what happens to them if they can't remain in the NCAA?
