In the Beamer era, I believe VT played ECU 18 times. Does that qualify as a rival? It has to be near the top over the last 30 years given we split time between the ACC and Big East (but played ECU during both periods). And as we know, they can beat us. After all doesn't a rivalry imply that either team can win in a given year?
