One reason schools may not want to switch to the FCS subdivision


is because football would lose 22 scholarships (85 in FBS and 63 in FCS). Also, it could mean the school would have to take all/part of the 22 scholarships to start a new men's program in order to be Title IX compliant. I don't think the school would have take any scholarships away from the women's program unless there is a department policy that requires the school to maintain the same percentage as if it still participated in the FBS subdivision.
