^^Totally on board with this and that is my desire,^^

I was working with a realtor a few years ago looking for investment properties, but after talking with a lender, temproarily out that on hiatus. Things have changed for the better financially for us recently, so I'm planning to start looking again at purchasing an investment property. We also may need to move in the not too distant future, in which case I plan to keep our current home and rent it out. I have even done a little bit of reading about using self-directed IRAs to fund real estate investments.

So, yes - I totally agree with you about passive income. If you can purchase multiple properties, rent them out and own them free and clear by the time you retire, you can really create yourself a nice retirement/financial security for your children.
