Another note: When we (teachers) fill out request for grants in our classes


we have either been told or learned on our own that it helps to mention that you teach in "rural Appalachia" part of the state. This makes you more likely to be given money for classroom needs/wants.
Whenever I submit a Donorschoose.org request I always mention being in the rural Appalachians of Southwest Va. as well as our percentage of "low SES (Socioeconomic Status)" students. Montgomery County is in SW VA....and is rural.....and has a large percentage of low income or "low SES" students.
