My mother was rushed to the local hospital, and I was not impressed...
...with the level of care she received. I would score Martinsville Hospital a 1 on a 1-10 scale for my mother's care, and that's being generous. After two days, we moved her to a hospital in Winston Salem (where my sister lives).
Factory jobs were definitely on the way out, but NAFTA acted like a big sledgehammer that pounded the remainder into submission. There just isn't much of any manufacturing there. I know they've worked to build a tourist industry, but there's only so much to do. But they still have Martinsville speedway. Hope it keeps two Cup races/year.
We had 5 high schools in the county when I was a kid, but now they're down to two. Both are larger than any of the older schools, but still...
Ah, the good ole days...
