So it isn't just Samsung TV's where the quality has gone to crap ...
DO NOT buy a Samsung refrigerator. I bought one a little over 6 years ago and I either need to spend about $600 fixing it or replace it already. The ice maker quit making cubed ice about 2 years after we bought it - it is stuck on crushed ice. None of the YouTube fixes worked and the Sears guy said it would be $480 to fix it. No thank you - crushed ice is fine for now. Then the ice maker flap continued to stick on the 'open' mode which lead to frost building up in the freezer. About 3 months ago, the water dispenser started making horrible noises and dispensing water very slowly. I replaced the filter and after about 1 day, the new filter experienced the same problem. When I remove the filter, the water comes out fine, but the problem is apparently not the filter itself. Again, YouTube solutions have provided no improvement.
The final straw is that about 1 month ago, the freezer (bottom drawer) became very difficult to open. I thought something was stuck but couldn't find an issue. Then I noticed a trend - the drawer opens fine if it has been opened recently, otherwise it sticks. So I pulled the drawer all the way out and notice that the bottom of the freezer has about a half-inch layer of ice on it with a significant ice 'block' along the back. The door is freezing shut ... apparently the water is building up from either the ice flap sticking open (warm air coming in) and/or the issue with the water dispenser.
Bottom line ... Samsung sucks through and through now. Had two Sammy TV's die early this year and now this. Rant over.
