Two different problems ...
Had one that is only 2.5 years old get the dreaded 'red line' right down the middle. Spoke to Samsung and it is typically not something that can be fixed without replacing the screen. Found a brand-new (bigger) LG on black Friday for roughly the same cost of fixing. One Sammy in the graveyard waiting for recycling.
Had one about 5 years old that simply shut itself down one night and wouldn't turn on again at all. The power source worked but there was no picture. Completed all possible troubleshooting (different sources, different cable boxes, different power outlets, etc) and never got a picture at all. Two Sammy's in the graveyard waiting for recycling.
Ironically, my largest TV (purchased 3.5 years ago) is also a Sammy and only 6 months after I bought it, that one also got the red line. However, it was under warranty at the time so they replaced the screen for free.
I have a 10 year-old Samsung that is still working fine - I think the quality issues started after Vizio and others started beating them on cost. I won't buy another Sammy product though - used to love them and now they are producing cheap shiRt.
