The ice on the bottom is a problem in all bottom freezers
There is a rubber plug with a small hole at the top of the drain tube that is used as part of the defrost feature. It was put there because in the old models the noise from the drain was a customer complaint. The problem is the rubber piece collects debris and clogs causing the drain pan to overflow (when working properly the water drains to an evaporator and is evaporated).
The fix is to melt the ice and pull the rubber plug out of the drain.
Myself and 4 people I work with have had this problem in the last 2 years and that is the solution we all had.
