Had very similar issues in 2009 with Samsung French door frig

Started with ice maker water dispenser issues. The holding tank in the frig would freeze solid. Under warranty they sent a technician to replace control board and cut out the frozen tank and replace it. That was 11 months into ownership. 2 months later same issues and Samsung said sorry you are now out of warranty period. I raised all holy hell and finally they agrreed to refund a depreciated value of $1600. I had to cut power cord and send serial sticker but kept the old frig in the garage put a new power cord on it and sold it on CL FOR $100 with full disclosure. So wife was convinced it was a Samsung issue so we bought the same French door style whirlpool. Had the infamous ice build up issue in freezer and tech just came and borrowed our hair dryer to defrost and said problem solved. I had to tell him about the duckbill defrost drain was the issue and they sent upgraded part and freezer gasket. They finally agreed to give me store credit to buy new frig. When they delivered the new side by side Maytag they tried to take the old. I said no way it’s staying in the garage and one day will be a kegarator. Still have issues with frost and ice in the freezer but it keeps the beer cold.

Just over the holidays the Maytag LED light started strobing. I think moisture is getting in the LED assembly. THE ICE MAKER DOOR freaks out occasionally and the defrost cycle sounds like it is going to take off into orbit. Spent hours on the phone with Maytag yesterday to see if they would send me a upgraded LED light. Granted it is 4 years out of waranty but worth a try right? After going up 5 levels of customer service they agreed to cover parts and labor. I then called the service tech and explained the problem and told them why part number they needed to bring so they didn’t make 2 trips. I HATE any appliance manufactured after 1990!
Sorry for rant.... I feel better.
