Can I get the argument for why Amazon not going to NY is good for NY?

I see no benefit to NY today, tomorrow or at any point in the future. It looks to me like a colossally bad decision.

Help me understand why:
1) "Saving $3B" of revenue you never had is good?
2) Why keeping home values in your district lower is good?
3) Why hurting your municipalities reputation as business friendly is good?

No idea why people are crowing about this other than they just don't understand it.
