Businesses have been leaving NY for decades and they

have a $2.5B budget shortfall. The local politicians are more interested in keeping their jobs and fear that those high paying jobs will attract people who may not vote for them. They have a vested interest in keeping the locals poor.

Unfortunately for the locals is that many of them would have benefitted by possibly getting a job at Amazon or at one of the many support businesses that will pop up to serve such a large facility.
