How do you know that a "surge" didn't come from students with the best

GPA and SAT scores? I didn't see any statistics about acceptance rates but what we did see was a lot more accepted kids decided to go to Tech. Accepted students is not the same as students that accept. In fact, they expect a significant "melt" as they call it to occur over the summer reducing the number of students that actually report by about 500.
