I don't have a link - sorry ...
I was summarizing what a Stanford doctor said on a news segment last night. He simply said that many of the victims of Coronovirus would likely have been victims of the flu or 'natural causes' related to their health conditions. In fact, he also said many of the reported Corona deaths were actually not caused by the virus - people who had tested positive died but the cause of death was not related to the virus. The US is counting all deaths of people that test positive as Corona deaths to be conservative - Dr. Birx confirmed that last week.
I also agree there is no FDA-approved treatment but I think that will be coming. In the interim, hydroxychloroquine has been very effective in many (not all) people so it is certainly better than nothing. It is kind of funny that South Dakota has been using hydroxychloroquine on a broad basis and reports are that the results are very positive. NYC has a clinical trial and while the anecdotal evidence in many is that it is effective, no partial results have been released. It may turn out that it is only effective in younger, healthier patients who would recover anyway but that is still a positive as it helps hospitals manage bed capacity.
