Great post. Makes a lot of sense.
For some reason the message is morphing.
I have a pharmacist friend that says things are finally easing up on her end.
Now not to say a shotgun blast of everyone going back to the way things used to be will be what has to happen. But gradual easing and opening could be something that can happen in certain locations....NY is probably shut down for a while but everywhere else?
Thinking out loud, restaurants in lower hit areas or areas with a flattened curve could certainly reopen at a % of capacity with spacing requirements or something. Who knows...but to say we have to stay in this capacity until a vaccine is found is ludicrous.
Hell, even if everything is shotgun blast reopened, its going to take months for most people to trust anything anyway. Old people and high risk people are going to continue what they are doing. Movie theaters and restaurants would just have a trickle of customers. Airlines will get an uptick, but people aren't going to rush to fill seats to capacity. MOST people will still continue social distancing, furiously washing their hands....for months and months regardless of what reopens or what the government says. Many businesses will likely already see (like mine) that Work from home can happen successfully and will continue to let employees that wish to do so, continue to do it in some capacity. So naturally, the curve would remain tolerable regardless of government intervention.
In short, i think the short term shutdown and fear of God have changed some peoples habits. And i don't see that immediately being undone regardless of what is reopen.
