I'm guessing the vast majority of those transfers are in these categories:

1) Didn't fit in at that college; freshman transfers are notorious.
2) Financial issues put them back in community college, then back to their original choice.
3) That gf/bf somewhere else.

Loyalty really not the issue, IMO.

The issue for the young kids is that they need the best education given the constraints of their situation.

And situations may change over a four year period, hence the transfers.

At the outset, some choose college, some choose the Army; they have to figure it out.

Athletes have a different priority for the most part; at least now days.

They are there to have the best chance to develop their potential as athletes.

Back when I was at Tech, at least many were just as focused on academics as sports.

Chris Smith, perhaps the best player in BB we have ever had, turned down a high NBA draft pick because he wanted to pursue a career in Chemical engineering.

Life is made up of a series of choices, not whining about the choice you made.

That gets you no where fast.
