That is also the reason the power conferences are starting to lobby
for the 5 P5s receiving an automatic bid and only 1 automatic bid to the G5s. The P5s want to keep the majority share of the money and not share it with the G5s because perceptually "they don't matter." Hence why I asked in my OP whether an 8-5 ACC Champion (VT) would hurt the P5's case or not. There is a good chance that at lest 1 P5 champion will probably be ranked behind multiple G5 champions in the final regular season poll. I am not sure if it really matters if it is 1, 2, 3, 4, or even all 5 G5 champions or not because the point would remain the same. The point being is that P5 champion ranked behind at least 1 G5 champion is probably undeserving of making the College Football Playoffs that year. It is no different than the question raised during the BCS Era as to whether the Big East Football Conference should continue to receive an automatic bid to the BCS bowls even though the conference's champion was either rarely ranked or ranked in the 20-25 range most years.
