I think it means they need to spend money to make money and the talent


doesn't make money like content makes money. I think it's more of a shift in who they are as a channel. I imagine the glut of talk shows on ESPN will start to dwindle. When I turn on ESPN I expect to see sports, not a talk show. True sports reporting would be great but these sports entertainment shows are getting too far away from the foundation of live sports programing.

It's like turing on Mtv and expecting to see music videos but instead you get people hitting each other in the stones.

ESPN is being forced to refine their product and I think it's great for us as consumers. NBCSN has done a great job of getting out of the way of the programming by streamlining their commentary and studio segments to smaller, more focused pieces without all the fluff. FS1 seems to still be finding their voice a bit but both are forcing ESPN to get back to doing what they do best which is deliver live sports to sports fans.
