ESPN worried about the sizzle, not the steak


Back when ESPN launched ESPNNews, Sportscenter was riding high, and all of their anchors were becoming big television stars. They thought that a 24 hour Sportscenter (which they should have named the network IMHO) would be a big ratings draw, but right after the launch, internet video became a thing and people no longer needed to wait for updates/highlights on their TV screens.
