I wouldn't underestimate political power....
I honestly don't believe there will only be 65 to 70 P-5 schools. The money is too big for other non-Power 5 schools to pass up. No way Kansas joins the Big 10 without Kansas State remaining in the P-5. The same for those Texas schools and Iowa State. WVU will make lots of noise too. Then you ave a school like UConn that is more qualified to be a P-5 member than 1/3 of its present members. I imagine some of the MWC teams will challenge this too, especially if BYU gets in and as long as Notre Dame is in as a football independent. I see no less than 80 P-5 members. That 5th P-5 conference (AAC/Big 12 mix) won't have the TV revenue of the other 4, but those schools still want a chance at big time football. A Big 12 implosion will create chaos.
