One could argue that the NCAA has already opened Pandora's box

WRT ruling on matters that may be beyond the NCAA's scope when it rendered a decision on the Penn State scandal. So even if it is a matter for the accreditation board, one could argue that UNC athletics "benefitted" from the "lack of institutional control."

I am not sure if I completely buy that argument. However, since the NCAA's involvement with the Penn State scandal, I think the NCAA has placed itself in a more difficult position not to pursue certain investigations that may not be in its jurisdiction.
