What's this?

The new ACC deal.

legislated/legalized/ ND football independence until 2036.

It re-established the old ND/ACC deal but also provides ND full ACC Network payouts and does not require ND football to join through 2036.

In other words, the big push for the ACC Network resulted in:

1) no requirement that ND football join the conference through 2036;

2) full ND ACC Network payouts without having to further commit to the conference.

It provides the framework for ND to be:

1) Indy in football;
2) Full ACC member in 24 of 26 sports;
3) Full participant in ACC Network.

So, ND is set up pretty well to continue "as is" until 2036.

Only a "champs only" playoff system will force ND to surrender its football program to a conference and to accept total defeat in the Realignment Wars (1995-Present).
