Had to deal with similar situation with son. Just say no.
And this wasn't a travel tournament, it was the league finals. Son was the leading goal scorer for his travel team and hurt his foot in the league semi finals. The finals were next. Coach really wanted/needed him to play but his pain was too much. We kept him out and they lost. Coach and other parents weren't happy about it but here's the deal:
It was the right thing to do to prevent further injury. He was 13/14 and although it was tough, he got over it. He now agrees it was the right thing to do (he's 22 now). His teammates got over it. The coach did, but some of the parents didn't.
13 is SO young, especially if she has a future in advanced leagues and High School/College. Even if doctor says its okay, will she be at her best on a broken toe? It's one weekend stupid tournament. What are we talking, 3 or 4 or 5 games? How many other tournament/games will they play?
