We offered 10 days, and we wouldn't allow that use
We have a detailed decision tree. Staying home with a kid because of a cancelled vacation wouldn't be considered COVID sick days, it would be unpaid.
We have employees who tried to game the system with "I was near someone who was tested positive later, so I should stay home" who were paid and then they got sick and whoops, you already used your COVID pay. One guy said he was taking a vacation to FL and would be sure to quarantine for 14 days when he got back, and he was fine with it being unpaid. So 21-day vacation, while his work buddies worked OT to make up for his absence. Fortunately these are one-off incidents. The vast majority of employees are working as normal and managing their sick days ethically. At least so far. Not sure what July 4 will bring.
