Honestly, I'm not so concerned about the cases so much as hospitalizations

and deaths. In Virginia, there have been 77,380 confirmed cases, 7,307 of which have been hospitalized. Deaths number 1,948. (Source, VDH, linked below)

So, fewer than 10% of cases result in hospitalization and 2.5% result in death. The first thing that strikes me about that is, in order for the fatality rate to jive with the 0.6% rate the studies come up with, then actual cases would have to be close to 325,000 (4x confirmed) of Virginia's 8.5 million people. That would mean only 2.25% of those infected would need to be hospitalized, and roughly 75% of those infected don't even show symptoms (or they are so mild, they are ignored).

I heard that yesterday New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut have announced a travel ban to Virginia and North Carolina and people coming to those states from VA and NC must be quarantined. I really think that's an overreaction, but given how hard those states have been hit, I can't really blame them.

I'm just not but so concerned. I mean, I'm wearing a mask when I go to the store, I'm washing my hands regularly, and I keep/use hand sanitizer in my truck. I don't want to be "the problem." But in Virginia Beach, COVID has hospitalized 170 people and killed 39.in a city of 450,000 people. That just doesn't warrant such hysteria in my mind.
