I thought they should go to 8. I think 12 diluted the tournament too much and gives byes--both of which I dislike. But I'm ok with it and see some merit in it as well.

I think 8 would have done the same for ND and the SEC. It would have given the SEC a serious chance for 3 bids and ND of course could maintain independence.

BTW, I love the "six highest champions" provision. It assumes nothing (funny thing is theoretically, the G5 could take all 4 byes--theoretically--I know, I'll show myself out. LOL).

But in all seriousness, this proposal obviously allows the G5 to get at least one spot. It's been long over due. If P5 schools have a problem with it, they are free to join one of the G5 conferences. I'm sure the G5 would love the competition and the bump in reputation.
