Here's another beef I have with the bye.


Since we have many conferences and a small sample size of OOC games, I think it gives way too much subjective power to the committee to determine the byes. I think of TCU not getting in in 2014. If that would happen today, they'd be the 5th seed with no bye. Granted, it's better than getting left out. But the point is, they shouldn't have to play a play-in game and then face a rested equivalent.

Also, while it's never happened before, what if each P5 conference has an undefeated champ that's played a similarly competitive OOC schedule? If LSU, Clemson, Penn State, Texas and USC are all undefeated--who gets jobbed with a play-in game?
