17 games for a non-bye national finalist who played a conference title game

Am I adding that up correctly?

Seems a lot for the #5-12 team. And it also goes against what the college presidents have been saying for years about not wanting to play too many games,

It is also seems "un-college football" like. Change is usually slow. It took forever to get to 4 (for better or worse), which gave the finalists one more game than the rest of the bowl bound population. This seems a bit much.

With 8, the players would have a decent break in December. Then hit New Year's Eve/Day with 4 big bowls games. Semis the next week, and the final the weekend before the Super Bowl maybe. Maybe there are reasons this wouldn't work, but to me it is much better than 12 right out of the shoot.
