I agree with you on this.

But we probably disagree on the severity of the consequences of the outcome or apparent outcome. I also agree that it isn't over. We've seen big shifts in the college football landscape get shot down or altered before. Remember when the ACC came for Miami, Syracuse and BC?

Regardless of the changes or tweaks that might be coming, I think Notre Dame will be able to preserve its independence indefinitely--or until it decides on its own to join a conference.
