A few steps the ACC is probably taking.

1. Looking over the B12 to see if we are interested in any of the leftovers. Everyone assumes WVU is the one school the ACC might find interesting. And certainly WVU has been contacting the ACC. ACC will listen and decide if this makes any sense. Most say there is no other schools in B12 worth taking, however there is a lot of talk of B10 and P12 taking teams, so maybe there is some value there. The ACC is probably considering if it is worth taking a group of schools from the B12. Would a group of larger schools from this region prosper as members of the ACC. We have to remember that it is not just about current situations but about future potential which can be impacted somewhat by NIL as well as impacted by being in ACC verses B12. Also, although these schools are not going to move the needle a lot there may be a group that would raise the average of the ACC as well as provide exposure to a new geographic region.

2. Look at schools outside of B12 for possible expansion, most likely means looking at AAC or possible partial merger with a group from the P12. I am sure the ACC is exploring all options.

3. The ACC is looking at fact that the conference is fairly secure due to the GOR which lasts until 2036. However, they realize that means in a decade the ACC will be vulnerable as GOR will be coming to an end. That gives us time, but a limited time to respond and strengthen the conference. Do nothing and we become the B12. If that reality has not set in for the ACC, then the conference is in real trouble. The good news is, it seems the new commissioner seems to get this.

4. Efforts made to entice ND to join, however ACC realizes this is unlikely.

5. ACC is being patient. We all see the need to renegotiate the ACC tv deal, but there is no rush to do so. We could add a couple of teams, maybe add a conference game to everyone's schedule and justify a renegotiation. But we probably don't want to do this yet. Lets get comcast on board the ACCN, improve the product of the network, increase viewership, and give the football programs with potential a couple of years to improve. If we invited B12 schools, even just WVU, they cannot afford a GOR buyout like Texas and OU, so they will need to stay in B12 a couple of more years. We have time but need to be in conversation with whatever parties. The best time to renegotiate is not now, maybe in a couple of years. So the ACC is probably willing to wait for any moves, unless their hand is forced. Hopefully, they are putting their plans in order to act quickly if their hand is forced to move early.

6. Work to improve OOC schedules so we have a better product to put on the ACCN. No more FCS. Explore scheduling partnerships with B10 and/or P12.

7. Push individual schools to invest in their programs to improve the status of
ACC football. Best way to improve ACC football is from within.

8. I am confident the ACC is exploring all of the above. I would add an additional item that I doubt they are considering: Explore creative ways to generate fan interest and excitement. If we went to 16 teams with 4 divisions of 4 teams. Then each division could play for a trophy. Example, one division could be the 4 NC schools and the games between the 4 schools only, would determine the winner of the "Carolina Cup". That would generate some excitement and add meaning when Wake plays Duke. College football has lost traditions, we need to find new traditions to put into ACC football. Have some kind of special ACC fan day at a different stadium each week, the fans can compete in some way to host the following week. Some short 30 second video of the schools fans can be shown during halftime of each ACCN broadcast of ACC games the following week showing the winning fans. There has got to be ways to get fans excited about ACC football, and help them invest in their school's games and environment. Add a show to ACCN that is all about tailgating. It can visit different locations and talk to fans who are tailgating before games. Fans will want to be on the show so they will start decorating even more. Get creative to improve ACCN. Put some creative people in a room to brainstorm for a few hours, certainly some of the ideas they come up with will work. Some will stink, but that is the nature of brainstorming.
