I do agree that population is a key.


The subjective part is how important is the product. I went from the angle that the ACC should build on what it does best. There are no great football options for expansion. Some good ones, but nothing great. So the alternative for me is to expand with a basketball mindset and build the media contract off of that.

My reasoning from a product perspective is that good matchups like UNC vs. Kansas as regular conference games in basketball would draw in "extended viewers" from other states.

Cinny and Memphis could also be options (no clue how their academics would fit). And then the B12 teams like mentioned before. If the ACC takes this approach then they actually have quite a bit of flexibility and it will make them unique.

They could even keep the ACC. Just rebrand as Atlantic and Central Conference.
