There is NO way for the ACC to close the deficit with football


It's impossible. There are too many small schools that will never have big fan bases, no matter how good the teams might be. The ACC is in a uniquely bad position of having Wake, BC, and Duke for football (Miami is also small but has the brand name). Even if ND was added, it really would not bump up the ACC football value enough.

The ACC has to find an alternate solution. I only see limited options for them.

- get poached
- expand geographically with football focus (options are limited)
- expand geographically with basketball focus (multiple options that also overlap with football)
- stay as is

For all the talk about money, it is important to accept the fact that the media deals are for the entirety of the conference (in most cases). The SEC happens to be getting most of their value from football, but that doesn't mean the ACC can't get value from basketball.
