You were implying he was a bad hire and my observations were intended to support your original post. I also believe they are relevant to your response.
Everybody is entitled to their opinions as to how the ACC should proceed. However, some opinions are likely more grounded than others in reality. My point was that Phillips' broad base of experience makes him well suited to understand where the ACC has been, where it is now and where it might realistically go in the future all while considering the concerns of individual members. Things are going to be challenging, I believe, in the future and will probably involve some difficult and not entirely popular choices. Conference members will be best served, in my opinion, by a commissioner with a broad industry view and not predisposed to favor one or a small set of members over the entire conference. That is where I believe the choice of Jim Phillips benefits the ACC the most.
