you are exactly right. As TV revenues seemed to always be on an upward spiral adding teams in expansion hinged on them contributing more to the pie so that all slices increased.

I think that is still the first metric to be considered. However, it may no longer be the only metric, or even a deal breaker, if it is not met. After UT/OU go to the SEC there is arguably one school, ND, with enough juice to move the revenue needle for the remaining four(SEC, Big10, ACC, PAC12) stable conferences. There is also a limited number of schools inside those four conferences, that if they were to choose to switch, would move the needle enough. They are all near the top of their respective conferences and not considered likely candidates to move. I think with the changing economics, the possibly shifting media landscape, the pending NCAA reorg, etc., there will in all likelihood be increasing importance in some less quantifiable but, strategically important considerations surrounding expansion candidates or members to newly formed divisions.
