As far as dismissal of valid points by some, it happens on this board every day. You're dismissed, I'm dismissed, I dismiss others. I can almost predict what some posters are going to say before I open a post. You probably can, also.
I follow certain on this board, some of whom I like, some of whom I don't, some of whom I agree with, some of whom I don't. In particular, I follow posters whom I usually disagree with, because I think they keep me grounded. I'm wrong a lot, and assume I will be wrong a lot in the future. But the discussions are good, as long as they devolve into being petty and mean-spirited. I follow you and @2hhoop3 a lot, as well as @RJHokie , @laphroaig , @NokieHokie , @vthokieq and many others, because they draw me to strings in which I might be interested. It saves me time in catching up on subjects that interest me. I like posts, whether I agree with them or not, because the thought is well-founded, or well-worded, or pithy.
But in short, to answer your post, Yeah !
