I am not sure.
the Alliance has ever really been anything more than in name only. However, the unanimous vote requirement means it only takes one to get to 2026. Now the ACC may not make any friends being the one and you could see a few people being vindictive for their stance but, at the end of the day if it ultimately results in (1) more money and (2) creates the likelihood that there is a more level playing field as opposed to a monopoly of a few or a benevolent dictatorship the risk seems acceptable. Moreover, the ACC is likely on borrowed time that expires with 2036 so there really is not anything to lose by employing whatever leverage you can find. This game for a number of years now has been every man for himself and Mike Tranghese was the first idiot without a chair when the music stopped. I think Phillips is smart enough to recognize that when the music stops next, his current conference will still have a chair OR he will have positioned himself to take somebody else's chair (most likely Kevin Warren).
