I find it interesting that the AAC consists of old Big East remnants

with that, the original Big East was formed as a conference for everything BUT football. The demise of the old Big East was a combination of things, but arguably, football was a big part of it. However, the Big East is back in name, along with many of the non-football schools as members.

Now, fast-forward from 1992 to 2016, and the AAC could theoretically be doing this in reverse by adding a non-football school. I just find it interesting.
