Loh did not make any effort to stay in the ACC.

He made none at all. This was all about him, and not about the University of Maryland. Dr. Wallace Loh had zero idea about the culture of athletics at the school he runs. His comments tell that story. Will Stewart linked some stuff about it in a thread earlier. He knew they played games, but that's about it.

And there is some data showing the impact on the school. They have been there a few years now. They are not making full Big Ten money until 7 years. They are not making more than they would in the ACC at this point because the Big Ten won't pay them.

Their average football attendance between being in the ACC and being in the Big Ten is an additional 800 tickets per game in the Big Ten. The Clemson football game in 2013 had more attendance than the Ohio State football game in 2016. Maryland did not sell out any home football games in 2016. The fans were so excited for their bowl clinching game against Rutgers that only 30,000 showed up. The Terrapins Booster Club raised more money in 2012 than in 2015. The Maryland athletics department still required a 15% subsidy from the academic side of the University in 2016, which is actually against Maryland law I think.

So we do have some information about how it is going to work in the Big Ten for Maryland.
