Notre Dame took advantage of the ACC's weaknesses

at the time they made the deal. FSU wasn't happy and was complaining weekly. Maryland was secretly negotiating with Jim Delany to bolt for the more profitable and stable Big 10. Kudos to Notre Dame for getting what they wanted. They took advantage of the moment and hit a grand slam. They avoided AAC or Big East membership (both non-Power 5 conferences) for their other sports and maintained their Football independence. All they had to do was play an average of 5 ACC teams a year in football. That just made it easier for them to fill their future football schedules. Too bad that our conference commissioner isn't as smart or business savvy as Notre Dame's Jack Swarbrick. He would've made a good commissioner for the ACC.
