OK. I think we're getting at the same thing from different angles.


But Georgie beat Auburn in the CCG and surpassed all divisional competition during the regular season. Auburn surpassed all divisional rivals during the regular season as well, then lost to Georgia.

Arguing differences or semantics between best and champion, to me, is silly. And is only done with an agenda in mind. Which is why I don't regard them as serious questions but an attempt to influence or manipulate. But I agree with you that a committee should not determine who's eligible. Rather, they could determine who gets left out from the pool of eligible teams as determined by the P5 CCGs. This would work well within the current CFB architecture.
