As a veteran of speeding tickets

I can tell you absolutely you should show. If the cop doesn’t show you will be let off as your accuser is not present to prosecute you. This happened to me A LOT.

If the cop does show plead no contest and explain. Ask AT THAT POINT for the driving skool option.

In some places if you show and plead no-contest and pay the fine you will be let off w/o any points to your record. It’s really about the money. Pay it and move on. It is for this reason you DO NOT do the driving course prior to court as there are more than a couple of factors that will make taking the course a waste of time/money and if you don’t need it now you can save it for later.

It is also not a bad idea to take a lawyer if you are particularly worried about it. Find one that specializes in speeding tickets. Many will almost guarantee you a favorable outcome as this is what they do all day. I did this once and it cost $125.

Sounds to me like you’ll be fine w/o a lawyer. Godspeed and may your cop have a bad case of diarrhea that day.
