Correct, but you need to document that as the "excuse" also.


Then if they ever hit you up with a penalty for any reason, you play "please waive this penalty" card, as you (IRS) were having an "uncertain year" by your own admission, otherwise, this would not have happened. And, waiving any penalty will help me decide on pursuing the violation of my taxpayer bill of rights.
