Have you considered pitching a college swim camp this summer?

Sounds like swimming has become a job for your son due to Covid, and a dreary one at that. You have to find a way to make it fun again.

I’d suggest asking your kid to stick with swimming for a few months and offer him a choice of college swim camps to attend. After the camp, if he still wants to give up the sport, no problem.

My daughter is also a swimmer and loves camp. It’s a chance to be on her own. She swims at great facilities. The college swimmers are coaches and she looks up to them. And she gets to meet new friends.

Not sure where you live, but if you consider this as an option, I’d suggest looking at SEC or southern ACC schools where things are more open.

If after that he still wants to quit, at least you know it’s really burnout and he’s making an informed decision.
