I am as ready as the next guy to make a coaching change but...


this is going to be one tough decision with a lot of uncertainty. First, VT has limitations with $ and its position as a solid football program is currently in catch-up mode. Second, we will have a lot competition in the search (per TSL's estimate, there could be 30 to 35 open HC positions this off season). Third, the number of solid candidates available seems really low especially compared to when we got Fuente (personally, I am not excited about any of the candidates mentioned so far). Fourth, the overall success rate of finding a successful coach (defined as lasting at least 12 years or longer) is part skill and part luck (remember, Fuente was considered a home run hire by virtually everyone). The bottom line is this is where Whit will really earn his salary.
